He'll be back, but not for a little bit longer. Paramount has shifted the upcoming Terminator reboot back from a prime summer spot on July 26, 2019 to an equally prime holiday release the Friday before Thanksgiving. The film will now arrive in theaters on November 22, 2019.

The Skydance production comes from director Tim Miller (Deadpool) and producer James Cameron, and will reunite franchise originals Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger for the first time since 1991's Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Hamilton is returning as her iconic character Sarah Connor with Schwarzenneger once again reprising his role as the Terminator. He last appeared as the character in 2015's tragically titled Terminator Genisys. Per Deadline, the release date shift isn't related to Schwarzenegger's recent heart surgery, and was in the works before the star went under the knife.

The new leg of the Terminator franchise is taking a cue from Blumhouse's Halloween reboot, and will disregard all the sequels that came after Cameron's original two films. Last year, Cameron explained the timeline, telling THR,

“This is a continuation of the story from Terminator 1 and Terminator 2. And we’re pretending the other films were a bad dream. Or an alternate timeline, which is permissible in our multi-verse. This was really driven more by [Tim] than anybody, surprisingly, because I came in pretty agnostic about where we took it. The only thing I insisted on was that we somehow revamp it and reinvent it for the 21st century.”

Outside the timeline, plot details are still being kept under wraps. The film is expected to roll into production over the summer. Schwarzenneger previously said the plan was to film from June to October. In addition to the franchise originals, Halt and Catch Fire and Blade Runner 2049 actress Mackenzie Davis is set to star in a key role of the film that has been described as "the face of the rebooted franchise, in the vein of Hamilton’s character Sarah Connor."
