Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.  In the upcoming sequel, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds himself surrounded by antagonistic forces as Electro (Jamie Foxx) emerges, Parker’s old friend Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) returns to New York City, and everyone seems to have a connection to the shady goings-on at Oscorp.  This new trailer is a mash-up of the trailers we’ve seen over the past few months with a few bits of new action thrown in.  With a little under three months left to go until the film’s release date, I’m a little worried about how much more they can show us since we’ve already gotten a pretty heavy dose of the plot.  Perhaps it’s best to keep the reveals where they are, and let us be surprised when we see the film in May.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film also stars Emma Stone, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper, B.J. Novak, Colm Feore, and Sally Field. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in 3D on May 2nd. [Update: Sony has pulled the trailer.]

Here’s the official synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man 2:

It's great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there's no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.
