You’ll probably pick up on this soon enough, but I’ve got a major thing for super cute animated creatures.  (Perhaps the result of growing up with pets?)  The “They've Got the Whole World in Their Hands” trailer for The Boxtrolls is easily one of the best of 2013 and since, every single thing we’ve seen from the movie’s promotional campaign suggests that it’s got some serious potential, largely due to the detail and expressivity of those incredibly novel and charming creatures - and now we get to take an even closer look at four of them.

With The Boxtrolls due to have a rather big presence at Comic-Con, Focus Features has unveiled four character posters each featuring a different boxtroll as he packs for San Diego.  Hit the jump to check out the Boxtrolls character posters for Fish, Shoe, Oilcan and Sparky as well as all of the details on what they've got going on at Comic-Con.  The Boxtrolls arrives in theaters on September 26th and features the voices of Isaac Hempstead WrightElle FanningBen Kingsley, Toni ColletteNick FrostSimon PeggRichard Ayoade, Tracy Morgan, and Jared Harris.

If you’re not hitting Hall H for the day on Friday, July 25th from 2:00 to 4:00pm, bug chef David George Gordon will be cooking up some of the Boxtrolls’ signature dishes at Petco Park – bugs and insects.  On top of that, Wright (the voice of Eggs) will be on hand to sign select character posters.  If you can't make it on Friday, the edible insects and Wright will be back at Petco Park on Saturday, July 26th from 2:00 to 4:00pm as well.

Then, of course, we’ve got the Boxtrolls Hall H panel.  That’s going down on Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30pm, and will have Wright, Kingsley, Fanning, directors Anthony Stacchi and Graham Annable, and producer, lead animator and LAIKA president and CEO Travis Knight in attendance.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Boxtrolls:

A family event movie from the creators of “Coraline” and “ParaNorman” that introduces audiences to a new breed of family – The Boxtrolls, a community of quirky, mischievous creatures who have lovingly raised an orphaned human boy named Eggs (voiced by Isaac Hempstead-Wright) in the amazing cavernous home they’ve built beneath the streets of Cheesebridge. When the town’s villain, Archibald Snatcher (Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley), comes up with a plot to get rid of the Boxtrolls, Eggs decides to venture above ground, “into the light,” where he meets and teams up with fabulously feisty Winnifred (Elle Fanning). Together, they devise a daring plan to save Eggs’ family.
