James Wan conjured one of the freakiest horror films of the past few years, and he’s aiming for a repeat with The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist. While official plot details for this next scare-fest are under wraps at the moment, the film’s title refers to claims of ghostly activity out of a council house in Enfield, England, in the late ‘70s. The incident allegedly led to the demonic possession of two young girls. To bring this story to life, Wan took his cast and crew to film scenes in London, and he even posted a series of set photos to social media for us to envision his vision for this tale.

In addition to outdoor shots involving a street Santa and a lamp post bedecked with pine needles, the photos show another look at Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who return as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Actor Simon McBurney of Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation is also spotted in ‘70s period costume sporting an overcoat, mustache, and glasses. Details on his character are equally mysterious.

The Conjuring 2 is based on a screenplay by Chad and Carey Hayes, both of whom returned after penning the first film. Frances O’Connor (The Hunter) also features among the cast, said to be playing that of a desperate mother of a ghost-plagued girl. Based on news coverage of the actual event, which included a number of skeptics, the two girls were said to have heard knocking sounds on the walls and demonic voices, and seen furniture move on its own, in addition to the children levitating into the air.

Wan has been our best source yet for new looks from the set, with his first image to announce the start of production and our first glimpse at the leading duo’s return. We’re eager to see what else is in store for the Warrens as we get closer to the film’s release on June 10, 2016., but for now check out the images below.
