Just a reminder that in case you’re still not over David Letterman’s departure from the Late Show (I'm definitely not), we’ve got another big late night TV exit coming later this year, and it’s not gonna be any easier. Jon Stewart steps down from The Daily Show on August 6th, and while Comedy Central has found what seems to be an exciting and suitable new host for the quick-witted series in Trevor Noah, the void Stewart’s sharp and always-on-point voice will leave in the TV landscape will be vast.

But unlike The Late Show, which will have a four-month gap between Letterman’s final show and Stephen Colbert’s first show, it appears that Comedy Central is keen on a quick turnaround for The Daily Show revamp. It was announced today that Trevor Noah’s “new and sexy” iteration will debut on September 28th, just under two months after Stewart’s last show.

In order to tout Noah’s arrival, a new video was released online that shows the South African comedian trying out Jon’s chair behind the Daily Show desk. While checking out his new digs, Noah also opts to try and find new (and hilarious) catchphrases. I know change is difficult, and frankly there’s no replacing Jon Stewart, but I'm optimistic that Noah will craft an interesting version of The Daily Show 3.0 that also honors what Stewart did to make the series a cornerstone of American television. Noah's not simply replacing Jon Stewart, he's succeeding him. Here's hoping he's up to the task.
