New Trailer for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Shows Off a Sassy Catwoman and a Terrifying Bane

     April 30, 2012

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, which they are billing as “the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.”  It reveals our best look yet at Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) and Bane (Tom Hardy), plus tons of destruction and mayhem.  It’s amazing.  Just get yourself after the jump already and watch it.

Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine also star. The Dark Knight Rises opens on July 20.

When Bane gargle-threatens, “Your punishment must be more severe.”  Oh boy.  There is something about precisely articulated threats that get me on a deeply personal level.  But for me, it’s really important to see mass demonstrations of what a menace Bane is.  The field collapsing, the bridge exploding—the body count in this movie must be hundreds strong.  As the man stepping in for the “epic conclusion” to the trilogy, Bane must be, if not the most memorable villain in Nolan’s Batman movies, the most deadly.  I don’t how Hathaway fits in the story as Catwoman, but I’m sure she’d make a sweet icing on the cake if that’s all she is.
