For a long time I wasn’t sure if this movie was real or just an April Fool’s joke (it is set to air on April 1st, although so is Banshee, and that is definitely no joke), but here we go: Dead 7 is a Syfy original movie starring a slew of 1990s boy band members fighting zombies in a nondescript Wild West town. It’s completely ridiculous, and yet, could it be one of the best things on TV this year? “From the makers of Sharknado” … draw your own conclusions.

Specifically, the movie (if it is a movie … I can’t help but be skeptical) stars Nick Carter (who also co-wrote the screenplay), A.J. McLean, and Howie Dorough from The Backstreet Boys, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick from ’N Sync, Jeff Timmons from 98 Degrees, and basically all of O-Town (Erik-Michael Estrada, Jacob Underwood, Trevor Penick, and Dan Miller). Kill the zombies, save the world, and quit playing games with my heart!

Honestly, the whole thing look like a beautiful mess, which is probably exactly what it’s intended to be. And, as the 90s nostalgia train clearly has no intention of slowing down any time soon, at least we’re getting some fun and weird stuff from it that is clearly not taking itself too seriously. Check out the trailer below:

Clearly, it’s no longer Backstreet vs ’N Sync, but all about the boy band team-up. I dig. Head on over to Buzzfeed for more info on the project and exclusive images, and let us know what you think of it all … and are you sad (or surprised) that Justin Timberlake (as if!), Brian Littrell, Ashley Parker Angel, or either of the Lacheys are not involved? We’ll have more for you about this post-apocalyptic zombie Western (starring the collected covers of 1998 issues of Tiger Beat) as it’s announced.

Dead 7 is set to premiere Friday, April 1st at 8 p.m. on Syfy.
