Looks like Lionsgate switched up the title of Christian E. Christiansen’s latest yet again.  It was originally called The Occult, then it was Where the Devil Hides back at CinemaCon 2013 and now, according to the film’s brand new trailer, it’s going by the name The Devil’s Hand instead.

The film focuses on six girls all born on the sixth day of the sixth month, but to different mothers.  According to ancient prophecy, only one can survive and on her 18th birthday, that one will become the Devil’s Hand.  Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have this one hitting theaters and VOD on October 10th.  The films stars Jennifer Carpenter, Rufus Sewell, Alycia Debnam Carey, Adelaide Kane, Leah Pipes and Thomas McDonell.  Hit the jump to check out the new The Devil’s Hand trailer.

I remember having interest in this one back when it was in production in 2012, but after that, we never heard anything about it.  It was a nice surprise to see a poster pop up roughly a year later at CinemaCon, but again, that’s all we got – until now.

It’s no wonder this one got lost in the mix.  The film’s got a great cast, but based on what we see in this trailer, it’s a bit of a narrative mess.  The whole six girls born on the sixth day of the sixth month thing is clear, but how are we supposed to care when we know nothing about any of the characters?  And who’s Carpenter playing?  How does she fit into the situation?  It isn’t a bad trailer because it fails to address those specific questions, but it doesn’t really offer up any concrete details that are fresh and intriguing enough to make you want to catch the full feature.  Take a look for yourself below:

Here’s the official synopsis for The Devil’s Hand:

When six girls are born on the sixth day of the sixth month to different mothers in the small, devout village of New Bethlehem an ancient prophecy is set in motion -- on their 18th birthday one of the girls will become the Devil’s Hand. As the day approaches and one by one the young women begin to disappear, terror overtakes the quiet community and those remaining girls band together to uncover who or what is behind these treacherous acts.
