The Disappointments Room has had a fraught time in the wake of the Relativity Media bankruptcy, being bumped off the release schedule for a time and then set for November, before ultimately finding a home in September. But at last, we're seeing footage from the horror flick starring Kate Beckinsale, whose character makes the mistake of buying a grand old house out in the sticks, and discovering it has a locked room that holds untold demons. Fix that, Property Brothers!

There's not much in this trailer that's "new" to horror audiences, so basically the question is how effective the horror aspects of the film are and how engaging the mystery will be. D. J. Caruso is in the director's chair on this one, who was at one point in time a pretty in-demand filmmaker following the success of his Rear Window riff Disturbia, but after the disappointments of the Shia LaBeouf tech-thriller Eagle Eye and franchise non-starter I Am Number Four, took a bit of a back seat. He's currently coming off of shooting xXx 3, but Disappointments Room could be a refreshing return to the small-scale thriller genre that began his career.

Check out the Disappointments Room trailer below. The film also stars Lucas Till, Gerald McRaney, Mel Raido, Michael Landes, and Ella Jones and opens in theaters wide on September 9th.

Here's the official plot synopsis:

The psychological thriller follows a woman (Beckinsale) who moves into a new house with her 5-year-old son only to discover a secret room within the attic where unimaginable horrors are accidentally unlocked.
