Clearly Jennifer Lawrence likes to stick with what works and who can blame her?  After scoring an Academy Award win for Silver Linings Playbook and a nod for American Hustle, she chose to continue working with director David O. Russell on Joy, and now she’s doing the same thing with Francis Lawrence for a film called The DiveThe movie will tell the true story of Francisco “Pipin” Ferraras and his wife Audrey Mestre.  The pair practiced “freediving,” a form of diving without the use of a breathing apparatus.  Lawrence will step in as Mestre who died while attempting to beat her own record by diving more than 557.7 feet using just a single breath.

The Wrap hasn’t been able to confirm The Dive casting news just yet, but if it is accurate, it’ll mark Jennifer Lawrence and Francis Lawrence’s fourth film together, following The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Mockingjay - Part 1 and Mockingjay - Part 2.  Perhaps Jennifer Lawrence did a good deal of character work for Katniss on the first film with Gary Ross, but Francis Lawrence has certainly done a stellar job facilitating a pretty substantial arc for her in the subsequent films so I'd like to bet they won't have any trouble tackling new material together.

James Cameron is also working on The Dive as a producer.  After Mestre's passing, Ferraras honored her by diving the same depth she tried to achieve and Cameron filmed the effort.  Changeling scribe J. Michael Straczynski penned the script based on a draft done by Shutter Islands Laeta Kalogridis.
