Fox Searchlight has released the trailer for the crime drama The DropTom Hardy plays Bob, a former criminal and current bartender working at a bar that serves as a money “drop” for local gangsters.  When the bar gets robbed, Bob and his cousin/employer Marv (James Gandolfini) find themselves in the crosshairs of an investigation and the criminal underworld.  Directed by Michaël R. Roskam (Bullhead) working from a script by Dennis Lehane (Gone Baby Gone), who adapted his own short story, I have high hopes for this one, not only because of the talent on board, but because it's Gandolfini's final film, and I want his filmography to go out on a high note.

Here's the official synopsis for The Drop:

THE DROP is a new crime drama from Michaël R. Roskam, the Academy Award-nominated director of BULLHEAD. Based on a screenplay from Dennis Lehane (MYSTIC RIVER, GONE BABY GONE), THE DROP follows lonely bartender Bob Saginowski (Tom Hardy) through a covert scheme of funneling cash to local gangsters - "money drops" - in the underworld of Brooklyn bars. Under the heavy hand of his employer and cousin Marv (James Gandolfini), Bob finds himself at the center of a robbery gone awry and entwined in an investigation that digs deep into the neighborhood's past where friends, families, and foes all work together to make a living - no matter the cost.
