It looks like The CW and DC are keen to stay in the Amell Family business as Robbie Amell has just landed a major recurring role on the upcoming superhero series, The Flash.  Amell isn't exactly a new face to the network as he starred in the first (and only) season of The Tomorrow People, and he'll be reuniting with that show's executive producer, Greg Berlanti.  Another reunion of sorts will occur with Amell's older cousin, Stephen Amell, who currently plays the title role in The CW's superhero series, Arrow and will appear in the pilot for The Flash as the hooded archer makes a cameo in Central City.  As for who the younger Amell will be playing, you'll just have to hit the jump.

As THR reports, Amell will join The Flash as Ronnie Raymond, "a maintenance worker at S.T.A.R. Labs, [who] plays an integral part in the particle accelerator accident that transforms Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) into The Flash."  Amell will first appear in the third episode as the fiance to Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), a character who is more complicated than she first appears.

Now, those of you familiar with DC comics history will recognize the name Ronnie Raymond as one half of the characters who fuse to form the nuclear superhero Firestorm.  In the earliest of iterations, high school student Raymond became melded together with Nobel Prize-winning physicist Martin Stein in an accident that left Raymond in control of the hero while Stein acted as his conscience.  Here's what Berlanti and Amell had to say about the casting:

“[Executive producers] Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg and I designed the pilot and series to include Ronnie (aka Firestorm) — and to actually have someone with Robbie's talent playing the role is beyond exciting. We can't wait for viewers and fans of the character to check it out," said Berlanti.

Added Amell: “I'm so excited to join forces with Greg Berlanti and The CW again on The Flash. Being brought into the DC Universe is a dream, I can't wait to get started!”

The Flash pilot debuts on The CW October 7th at 8pm.
