Warning: If you have not watched the Season 1 finale episode, do not continue! Also, some of these teases are from the comic books, so if you aren't interested in those kinds of spoilers, exit posthaste!

In The Flash's Season 1 finale, "Fast Enough," (click the title link for Dave's great recap) Barry Allen is given an opportunity to go back in time and save his mother from being murdered by the Reverse Flash. The entire finale was gut-wrenching and full of emotions, but nothing was more difficult to bear than seeing Barry decide to not save his mother, because another, future version of himself told him not to (got all that?)

But that was only one small component of "Fast Enough's" many revelations. What had Future Barry experienced that made him stop his other self from saving Nora Allen? And what were all of those references in the Speed Force about? Here are a few clues and teases for what we might see in Season 2:

Flashpoint

One of the biggest decisions that had to be made in "Fast Enough" revolved around the repercussions of Barry altering the timeline. If he went back and saved his mother and kept his father from going to jail, he would probably never meet Joe or Iris or even become The Flash. But that's only one small part of it -- what about the butterfly effect that could then change the course of the entire world?

Though Barry wrestles with these decisions, he decides ultimately to give it a go, but is stopped by his future self. This seems to suggest that at some point, Barry will attempt to go back and save his mother (his future self's suit in this scene was different than his current one), only to realize that the alteration to the timeline has been disastrous, and warns our current Barry Allen to hold back. This also suggests there will be multiple timelines and alternate realities going forward, but more on that in a minute.

The Flash Museum

the-flash-museum

In the Speed Force, we got a quick glimpse of the Flash Museum, with a gold statue of Barry out front. In the comics, the Flash Museum is dedicated to a number of Central City citizens who have worn the mask (but primarily Barry). Does that mean it's possible that we will get multiple Flashes down the road? Or was it just a quick reference for comic fans? Speaking of the comics and things seen in the Speed Force ...

Killer Frost

This was probably the biggest reveal in "Fast Enough," as we got a clear image of Caitlin Snow-Raymond looking particularly Black Canary-like as the villain (presumably) Killer Frost. Is the rise of Killer Frost a consequence of a tampered timeline? What could possibly turn Caitlin into a villain who goes from brunette curls and a nice corporate blouse to a platinum wig and super cleavage? Will Season 2 fully go there, or was this just another tease? It might be possible to have both Mrs. Firestorm and Killer Frost exist in Season 2, though, thanks to ...

Vibe

Quietly, one of the best father/son relationships on the show was the one between Cisco and Dr. Wells. Despite him being a villain, Wells/Eobard Thawne clearly had a soft spot for Cisco, respecting his work and simply enjoying his company. In "Fast Enough," he also gives Cisco a hint about powers Cisco didn't know he has possessed since the accident: his ability to see through the fabric of time and into different multiverses. In the comics, he goes by the name Vibe, and becomes a member of the Justice League (which Wells also alludes to with Cisco's heroic future), but we're probably a long way from that. For now, though, Cisco/Vibe may be the key that allows viewers to see and experience multiple timelines and universes created by Barry's trips to through time. Which means ...

Will the Thawnes Return?

When wormholes and blackholes come into play, there's really no reason to believe anyone is ever really dead. And that's a good thing. I don't know if Tom Cavanagh will return to The Flash or appear in DC's Legends of Tomorrow, but I truly hope he does. His Wells/Thawne villain this season has been one of the things that made The Flash such an exceptional show. Given that he and Barry Allen fight throughout time, I have a feeling this is not the last we've seen of him, but that could just be wishful thinking.

As for his ancestor Eddie, who sacrificed himself in order to save everyone from Eobard's dark machinations, he was sucked up into the Singularity at the end of "Fast Enough," which really means anything could happen. Either Eobard and/or Eddie could now exist in any timeline, and I hope they do. The other possibility is that they could appear in ...

DC's Legends of Tomorrow

the-flash-hawkgirl

There were a number of references to the CW's next superhero series, from Wells mentioning Rip Hunter to scenes of the Legends of Tomorrow gang fighting a robot in the Speed Force. Also, at the very end of "Fast Enough," one of the onlookers in the crowd was Hawkgirl (in the photo above). Also, since Legends of Tomorrow deals pretty much exclusively with time travel, there are definitely opportunities for us to get some Flash and even Arrow teases of what might have been.

The Flash will return before Legends of Tomorrow premieres (which will be in midseason), so we'll probably get some resolution to these questions before then. But if we don't, there has definitely been enough teased in "Fast Enough" to keep us guessing and hoping for the future.

Fellow fans, what are some of your questions or predictions for Season 2? And of the many finale reveals, which was your favorite?
