As Quentin Tarantino readies his next film, the Western The Hateful Eight, to start production in January, The Weinstein Company has now given us some fascinating info regarding the film.  In addition to unveiling the official The Hateful Eight synopsis, the full cast list confirms last night’s news that Channing Tatum has a role in the film, and also reveals that Demian Bichir (A Better Life) has signed on to play the part of “Bob”.  While a synopsis previously hit when the script leaked and Tarantino staged a live-read of the script, he has crafted a new third act for the film during revisions, and this synopsis goes into a bit more detail about the plot.  The basic logline remains, as The Hateful Eight takes place some time after the Civil War and revolves around passengers on a stagecoach hurtling through the wintry Wyoming landscape.

Check out the full The Hateful Eight synopsis after the jump.  The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, and Bruce Dern.  The picture will be shot on 65mm film, with production taking place entirely in Colorado in anticipation of a big 70mm release late next year following a planned debut at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Hateful Eight via TWC:

In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…
