Warner Bros. has released a nifty new banner for part two of director Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.  Before there were three films, you’ll remember that Warner Bros. released an extensive banner for An Unexpected Journey that appeared to run down a good deal of the film's plot, including the introduction of Beorn and the dwarves’ barrel rapids ride.  Those two sequences now take place in The Desolation of Smaug, and while this banner isn’t as descriptive as last year’s, it does feature a nice look at Smaug’s cast of characters, including the elves played by Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lily, and Lee Pace.

Hit the jump to take a closer look at the banner.  The film also stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellan, John Bell, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Sylvester McCoy, Graham McTavish, Michael Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O’Gorman, Mikael Persbrandt, Ken Stott, and Aidan Turner.  The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens in 2D, 3D, and HFR 3D on December 13th.
