Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for their upcoming comedy, The Intern. Written and directed by the oscar-nominated filmmaker Nancy Meyers (It’s Complicated, Something’s Gotta Give), the film stars Robert De Niro as Ben Whitaker, a retired widower who decides to get back in the game by becoming a “senior intern” at a major fashion company, founded and run by Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway). Before long, Ben proves himself a valuable member of the team and an important person in Jules’ life.
The Intern also stars Rene Russo, Anders Holm, Andrew Rannells, Adam Devine, Celia Weston, Nat Wolff, Linda Lavin and Zack Perlman. The film arrives in theaters September 15, 2015.

The trailer is essentially three minutes of Robert De Niro complimenting Anne Hathaway in varied, but always earnest, ways. Is his character constantly doped up on Valium or something? This is definitely a Nancy Meyers movie. And that’s not a bad thing, but you know instantly whether or not that’s for you. It’s not for me. There’s a bit too much sheen; a few too many J. Crew cable sweaters and stainless steel countertops. All the same, there is a charm and loveliness to Meyers’ films that resonate well with audiences and I could see The Intern being a big hit when it arrives in theaters later this year.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Intern.
In “The Intern,” De Niro stars as Ben Whittaker, a 70-year-old widower who has discovered that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Seizing an opportunity to get back in the game, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site, founded and run by Jules Ostin (Hathaway).
