The first teaser trailer for Breck Eisner's The Last Witch Hunter offered a peek at what Kaulder (Vin Diesel) is up against as, well, the world's very last witch hunter, but Lionsgate just unveiled a brand new trailer for the film and it delves much deeper into Kaulder's past and the evil he faces in the present. Kaulder was once a member of an army of witch hunters, but before he could slay the Queen Witch, she cursed him with her immortality and now he's the only one of his kind left.

The promo may be a bit over the top in certain respects, but it looks as though Eisner and the cast embrace it, and that could be key to making it all work. Plus, the mythology is pretty intriguing, especially Kaulder's relationship with the order of the Axe and Cross. It certainly seems like there's an opportunity to do some serious world building here, and perhaps enough to justify a sequel as Diesel teased a couple of months back.
