Following the well-deserved success of The Lego Movie, it's been a bit of a bonanza for Lego movies. We already knew that next year would bring The Lego Batman Movie, which looks just as fun and uproarious as it's predecessor, if the last trailer is any indication of what the movie will actually be. And now, the release date and cast of The Lego Ninjago Movie has been confirmed, making two theatrically-released animated Lego movies in one year for 2017. The Lego Ninjago Movie will be released next September, and includes a cast highlighted by Jackie Chan, Dave Franco, Olivia Munn, and Justin Theroux. The rest of the voice cast includes two Silicon Valley breakouts (Zach Woods and Kumail Ninjiani), one half of Broad City (Abbi Jacobson), half of Portlandia (Fred Armisen), and Michael Pena, one of the best character actors out there right now.

From the looks of the cast alone, one can imagine just how exhilaratingly funny this movie will be. Each one of these performers has a long history of enriching the material they are tasked with breathing life into. Woods, for instance, did a great job in the cold open for this year's Ghostbusters, while Armisen did hilarious work in Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, revamping his Robert Durst impression. There're a dozen other examples but I'm not playing IMDB here. Right now, it's just comforting to know that these people will be given the chance to continue working on potentially fantastic material.
