A few days ago, we reported that Colin Farell and Rachel Weisz would be starring in the English-language debut of Dogtooth director Yorgos Lanthimos.  At the time, the logline for the film stated, "an unconventional love story set in a dystopian future where finding a partner is a matter of life or death."  If you've seen Dogtooth or Lanthimos' follow-up, Alps, you know his films are far stranger than that one-line synopsis.  Today, we have a longer, more detailed synopsis, and it doesn't disappoint when it comes to Lanthimos' bizarre stories.  Simply put, it sounds like Logan's Run meets The Island of Dr. Moreau.

Hit the jump to read the synopsis.  The film also stars Ben Whishaw, Lea Seydoux, Olivia Colman, Ariane Labed (Alps), and Aggeliki Papoulia (Dogtooth).  Shooting begins on March 24th in Ireland.

Here's the official synopsis for The Lobster:

An unconventional love story set in a dystopian near future where single people, according to the rules of the Town, are arrested and transferred to the Hotel.  There they are obliged to find a matching mate in 45 days.  If they fail, they are transformed into an animal of their choosing and released in the woods.  A desperate man escapes from the Hotel to the woods where the Loners live and there he falls in love although it's against the rules.

Considering that Dogtooth has incest, my mind would not be completely blown if The Lobster has bestiality.  Or Colin Farrell turning into a lobster.  Or someone having sex with lobster-Farrell.
