Did you ever think Syfy’s The Magicians should be even darker than it already is? Well, you got your wish. Starting today and running until early December, the network released an uncensored version of the first season on Syfy.com, the Syfy Now app, and on-demand.

Now, the series, based on the first book in the acclaimed fantasy series by Lev Grossman, is already pretty dark: there’s sex, a mystical eye-gouging demon with a swarm of moths masking his face, and lots of drugs befitting of a school full of teenage sorcerers. So, how could it get darker? With lots and lots of F bombs.

To announce the occasion, Syfy conjured two TV spots, which you can watch below.

For those who haven’t seen The Magicians, you can think of it generally as a darker version of Harry Potter, but it’s so much more. Basically, Quentin and Julia are two kids who’ve been planning for the Ivy Leagues their entire high school careers, but everything changes when they’re tested to see if they have enough magical talent to enter the celebrated Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy. Quentin gets in and meets his fellow classmates, many of them of which love abusing drugs, alcohol, and sex. Julia doesn’t, leading her down a path of bootleg sorcery. Meanwhile, there’s a powerful “beast” that emerges from a mysterious realm called Fillory.

The cast includes Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Arjun Gupta, Hale Appleman, Summer Bishil, Jade Tailor, and Rick Worthy.

It’s pretty stellar TV for any fantasy or sci-fi aficionado. The Magicians was renewed for season 2 earlier this year, and the cast and crew are already busy with production. They already filmed the opening scene of the next run (available to watch online) and posted a behind-the-scenes look inside Fillory online.
