With Boyhood available today on Digital HD, IFC Films has released a 10-minute featurette on Hulu briefly chronicling the film's production.  I think the movie is remarkable, and it deserves credit not only for how it was made, but also because the finished feature has emotional resonance.  The concept is a hook, but not a gimmick, and this featurette weaves the production and its themes together as writer-director Richard Linklater and lead actors Ellar Coltrane, Patricia Arquette, Lorelei Linklater, and Ethan Hawke discuss the project at various points over its production.  The movie continues to be fascinating, and I can't wait to see it again.  It's currently making waves on the awards circuit, and while I don't know if it will go the distance to a Best Picture Oscar, nothing can take away from the fact that Boyhood is a singular picture, and I if I have one complaint about this feautette, it's that ten minutes is too little time for such a massive achievement.

Hit the jump to check out the The Making of Boyhood featurette.  The film arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on January 6, 2015.
