20th Century Fox has released a pair of new images from director Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi film The Martian. Based on the novel by Andy Weir and scripted by Drew Goddard, the film stars Matt Damon as an astronaut who finds himself stranded on Mars after he is injured and presumed dead by his team. With limited resources and a finite amount of time before his oxygen runs out, he must use the power of science to keep himself alive on the red planet. The first trailer promised a thrilling sci-fi survival tale that was also kind of humorous, and these new images give us yet another look at Damon’s astronaut in addition to a new look at some of the NASA crew back on Earth, including Chiwetel Ejoifor and Kristen Wiig.

I haven’t yet read Weir’s book but I hear nothing but good things, and clearly Scott assembled one hell of a cast for this largely contained sci-fi pic. Here’s hoping the movie marks a rebound for Scott after Exodus: Gods and Kings—whatever the hell that was.

Check out the new The Martian images below and come back tomorrow to watch the new trailer for the film. Jessica Chastain, Jeff Daniels, Sebastian Stan, Kate Mara, Donald Glover, Sean Bean, Mackenzie Davis, and Michael Pena also star. The Martian will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month and opens in theaters on November 25th.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Martian:

During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return. Based on a best-selling novel, and helmed by master director Ridley Scott, THE MARTIAN features a star studded cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Peña, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Donald Glover.
