Netflix has released the trailer for the upcoming thriller film The Perfection, and it’s rather unsettling. The film stars Allison Williams as a troubled musical prodigy who seeks out the new star pupil of her former school, only for the encounter to turn sinister to shocking results. This trailer doesn’t really let on much of the plot, but we do see some intensely terrifying imagery, and it very much looks like Williams is pulling another Get Out in which she’s playing someone we think has good intentions, but really is a big ol’ jerk.

The film hails from director Richard Shepard, who helmed the terrific dark comedies The Matador and Dom Hemingway and directed a lot of episodes of Girls. He co-wrote the script for The Perfection alongside Eric C. Charmelo and Nicole Snyder.

Check out the new The Perfection trailer and first poster below. The film also stars Logan Browning, Steven Weber, and Alania Huffman and will be released exclusively on Netflix on May 24, 2019.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Perfection:

The most buzzed-about movie at last year's Fantastic Fest, THE PERFECTION is an elegant and terrifying suspense ride filled with unexpected twists and turns. When troubled musical prodigy Charlotte (Allison Williams) seeks out Elizabeth (Logan Browning), the new star pupil of her former school, the encounter sends both musicians down a sinister path with shocking consequences.

Overflowing with dizzying horror and sly dark humor, THE PERFECTION is directed by Richard Shepard (THE MATADOR, DOM HEMINGWAY, "Girls"), and written by Eric C. Charmelo, Nicole Snyder and Richard Shepard. The film will be released globally on Netflix Friday, May 24, 2019.
