It has been just a little over a month since we first saw what Hank Azaria would look like as Gargamel in The Smurfs, and now we have video footage of Azaria prancing around New York City in character (with a guest appearance from Neil Patrick Harris!).  The Smurfs will combine live action and animation to bring the little blue folk of the comic and television series to the big screen.

In addition to Azaria and Harris, the live action cast includes Jayma Mays and Sofia Vergara; the voice cast features Anton Yelchin (Clumsy Smurf), Jonathan Winters (Papa Smurf), Katy Perry (Smurfette), Alan Cumming (Gutsy Smurf), Fred Armisen (Brainy Smurf), George Lopez (Grouchy Smurf), and Paul Reubens (Jokey Smurf).  The Smurfs is slated to hit 3D theaters on August 3, 2011.  Hit the jump for the clips.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In the 3D August 3, 2011 release, the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village and they tumble from their magical world into ours – in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down.
