Bleecker Street has released the first trailer for the upcoming drama The Tomorrow Man. Written and directed by Noble Jones, the film stars John Lithgow as a doomsday prepper who meets and falls in love with a woman (played by Blythe Danner) who’s still grieving over the death of her daughter. The story finds these two lonely souls with opposite outlooks—one obsessed with the future, one fixated on the past—coming together and trying to build a relationship together.
This looks like a nice movie. Lithgow and Danner are both reliable talents, and it looks like this film gives them room to breathe and to simply live in two human characters tackling human struggles. A novel idea!
Check out the Tomorrow Man trailer below. The film also stars Derek Cecil, Katie Aselton, Sophie Thatcher, and Eve Harlow. The Tomorrow Man opens in theaters on May 22nd.
