AMC has released a new The Walking Dead poster in anticipation of the highly popular show’s return from winter hiatus on February 8th. This new trend of using winter hiatuses (which have been the norm for years) as a way to promote a show in two halves is one of my least favorite practices happening at the moment. It’s one thing to split a season up into two halves airing a year apart, but The Walking Dead will only have been off the air for two months when its fifth season continues. Alas, this marketing trend appears to work as the zombie drama continues to be the most-watched show on all of television. It’s apparently on a creative upswing at the moment (catch up on Dave’s recaps here), so fans are no doubt hoping that quality continues through the back half of the season.
Check out the new The Walking Dead poster after the jump. Season 5 continues with the final eight episodes beginning February 8th on AMC, with an episode directed by Greg Nicotero.
Here’s the logline for the second half of The Walking Dead Season 5:
After the tragic events of the mid-season finale - as well as losing the possibility of a cure in Washington, DC - Rick Grimes' band of survivors find themselves on the road, surviving day-to-day and trying to hold on to their shredded humanity and dwindling hope. Stripped of security and without a direction for the future, some of the group near their breaking point, some find themselves hardened and cold and some just try to grasp onto what little they have left.
Though they are still breathing, the line between Rick's group and the dead is starting to blur. Could there be anything at this point that brings them back to life?
