Beware of spoilers from the first half of The Walking Dead season 6.

Daryl, the fan favorite badass, had a relatively brief story in the Walking Dead season 6’s first half, but that’s about to change. When the AMC zombie series returns in February, it will feature a lot more of Daryl, according to Scott Gimple.

Speaking with TV Insider, the showrunner teased a lot of what’s coming following the walker invasion of Alexandria, including 50 shades of Daryl.

He said:

We put Norman [Reedus] through his paces. He’s very scary in this back half, but there are a couple of moments where he made me laugh out loud. There is a whole lot of Daryl and a wide variety of Daryl.

There’s a lot to expound upon. Daryl had a hard time in the first half of the season as his signature crossbow and motorcycle were jacked. Reedus said he was pissed at the end of filming that day, saying, “For Daryl, he feels like he just let Rick down, and he’s also pretty pissed at this point.” We’ll have to wait and see if and how he works out this aggression, but Andrew Lincoln teased “a little adventure” a la Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid for Rick and Daryl.

Of course, the name on everybody’s lips in the latter half of the season is gonna be Negan. Played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the character was name-dropped by a group of armed men, but creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman said the character’s first appearance won’t come until the “bone-chilling” season finale on April 3. Gimple described Negan as “the darkest incarnation of a bully. He’s a very magnetic character; he isn’t just a sociopath. He is the star of his own movie.”

Elsewhere, Kirkman teased “a different Rick Grimes as he faces possibly the biggest hardships ever,” while Gimple said fans will “see a larger world and discover all sorts of complications and complexities to the world that the group was not aware of and not even thinking about.” But there is some good news: Kirkman promises we won’t have to wait long to see Glenn reunite with his pregnant wife, Maggie.

The Walking Dead will return on Sunday, February 14th, at 9 p.m. EST.
