The Walking Dead recap show is back on Collider Videos with hosts John Rocha, Kaori Takee, Quinn Marie and Josh Macuga. “Here’s Not Here” (Season 6, Ep.4) was basically a two-man character study off-broadway play, if off broadway is a cabin in the woods 30 miles from Atlanta near a beautiful water shed perfect for an aikido training montage.

This episode can be perfectly summed up as the Morgan (Lennie James) origin story. We learn just how badly his life has spiraled living out a life of solitude, while doing what he calls, ‘clearing’. If you were to take Morgan and put him in solitary confinement this is how he would embrace mental breakdown. His mind and soul has been lost to the world or what it used to be.

In his lonely travels through the woods, clearing and screaming at nothing, he encounters a lonely cabin inhabited by a man known simply as Eastman (John Carroll Lynch). Eastman, a former forensic psychologist, has interviewed 825 criminals to prove if they were ready to be assimilated back into society, which is why he’s the perfect man to bring Morgan back from the edge.

The book ‘The Art of Peace’ plays a central role as well as the martial art of Aikido, which Eastman teaches Morgan as a path toward healing. Aikido teaches that all human life is precious and no man can take a life of another man. This is something Morgan is extremely hesitant to do, largely due to the fact that this has basically been all he's doing in his chosen profession of ‘clearing’.

After much training and learning, Morgan embraces the teachings only to lose it in crunch time, leading to Eastman getting bitten, which, obviously, is his ultimate demise. The end of the episode shows Morgan going back on his travels to find salvation, this time with peace, but will it last? Is it feasible? Will Morgan be the Eastman to Rick in the future? And who is yelling at the gate? Answers… are in the future.
