The first footage from director Edgar Wright’s new film The World’s End has made its way online, albeit in very, very brief fashion.  The footage debuts by way of a montage of clips from this summer’s upcoming films, and though it’s only two short snippets, it should suffice as a nice tease for fans who are eagerly awaiting the third and likely final installment of the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy that began with Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost’s Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.  The story centers on five childhood friends (played by Pegg, Frost, Eddie Marsan, Paddy Considine, and Martin Freeman) going through an epic pub crawl in order to reach the fabled pub, “The World’s End”.  But as they make their way to the pub, they discover that the fate of humankind is on the line.

These two brief pieces of footage don’t reveal much other than Simon Pegg acting like a goofball, but a debut trailer for the film is expected to drop very soon.  Really looking forward to this one, so hopefully that wait is a short one.  Hit the jump to watch the footage.  The World’s End also stars Rosamund Pike and opens in the U.K. on July 19th and in the U.S. on August 23rd.

Here’s the official synopsis for The World’s End:

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
