The upcoming HBO Max Original children's fantasy series Theodosia, produced by Cottonwood Media, ZDF, HBO, and Globo, will be premiering soon, and the recently released trailer gives viewers a taste of New York Times best-selling author Robin L. LaFevers magical story brought to life.

Based on LaFevers' children’s book series, Theodosia is centered around clever, confident and courageous 14-year-old Theodosia Throckmorton – best known as Theo – the daughter of two Egyptologists who sparked her avid enthusiasm for everything to do with Ancient Egypt. Set at the beginning of the twentieth century, the plot kicks off as Theodosia and her younger brother Henry travel with their parents from London to the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. There, Theo and Henry wander off on their own and end up stumbling upon an ancient artifact, the Eye of Horus. In the trailer, we can see the moment in which the two kids discover the Eye, sitting on a mummy’s chest.

As the trailer also shows, this is a turning point for Theodosia, because for the first time, her power to detect ancient curses manifests itself. “I’m not falling for one of your jokes,” Henry tells his sister, as it becomes apparent that he does not share his sibling’s supernatural ability. However, returning home to London, Theodosia realizes that by unlocking her powers and discovering the cursed artifact, she has also drawn danger to herself and others. To combat these dark and ancient forces, Theo gathers a team of kids that includes her brother, their friend Will, and Egyptian princess Safiya.
