The first image has gone online from Judd Apatow's Knocked Up spinoff, This Is Forty.  Apatow's latest comedy brings us back to Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) and the comic trials and tribulations of their marriage.  The movie will pick up several years after Knocked Up and show the couple facing new challenges.  Per the LA Times, "Pete's music label is struggling and Debbie's vanity business, a dress shop staffed by the comely Desi (Megan Fox) and the awkward Jodi (Charlyne Yi), needs to help cover the household budget."  Mann and Apatow's real-life daughters, Maude and Iris Apatow, will be reprising their Knocked Up characters as well.  I wonder if Iris' character still likes Green Day.

Mann tells the LA Times, that This Is Forty is "the kind of stuff about marriage that you don't get to see in movies."  She continues,

"It's about getting older. What the hell happened? Am I making all the right choices? Is this where I'm supposed to be? Is this it? All of those dreams that you had when you were young, all of the possibilities, when you lock into marriage and kids, do the possibilities dwindle or go away?"

If all of that sounds even more dramatic than what Apatow did with Funny People, rest assured that there will still be plenty of improv comedy.  The LA Times describes one day on the set where Apatow was calling out alternate lines to Mann as her character comments on having Desi as a saleswoman.  Imagine making your wife say the following line:

"She's way hotter than me. It's like having Babe Ruth working at your store," Apatow suggested to Mann.

Whatever the line ends up being, I'm sure Mann will be able to make it work.  I'm also fairly sure that there will be at least 184 hours of deleted scenes and alternate takes.
