Tom Hiddleston really only became evident as a movie star to me during Only Lovers Left Alive.  Sure, I’d seen his performances as Loki in Thor and The Avengers and certainly thought he was quite capable, but those movies disappeared from my consciousness pretty much as soon as I stepped out of the theater.  But his work in Only Lovers led me to believe he can do just about anything.  Including playing Hank Williams in director Marc Abraham’s upcoming biopic I Saw the Light.

It was previously reported that Hiddleston plans to do all of his own signing in the project, and he showed up at the Wheatland Music Festival in Remus, Michigan over the weekend to test out his chops on a couple of Hank tunes.  And he sounds pretty good!  Hit the jump to see Tom Hiddleston singing as Hank Williams.  I Saw the Light (which will apparently be pretty dark) starts shooting next month.
