With Oscar weekend upon us, the aura of patting you and your peers on the back is as present as ever. In that spirit, I'm using this week's opening paragraph to recognize the solid work that Matt, Adam, Dave and co. have done in covering the 84th Annual Academy Awards. To prep for Sunday's show, I recommend you getting up to date on all of our Oscar coverage, culminating in Matt and Adam's predictions. In this week's installment you'll find a slew of materials from The Avengers including new movie and toy images, Wanderlust interviews with Jennifer Aniston, Paul Rudd and more, very cool fan-made trailers for The Dark Knight Rises and John Carter, the first clip from The Amazing Spider-Man, and the scoop on Spartacus: Blood and Sand star Jai Courney's new gig as John McClane's son in A Good Day to Die Hard. A quick recap and link to each ensues after the jump.1. New Movie and Toy Images for THE AVENGERSavengers-hulk-sliceAre we inching closer to over-saturating the promo materials for Joss Whedon's The Avengers? Perhaps. But, man, does this screen grab of Mark Ruffalo's CGI Hulk look sweet. While we're at it, this ultra-realistic figure of scowling Nick Fury (a.k.a. completely relaxed Nick Fury) and this high-resolution look at Hawkeye, Captain America and Black Widow don't look too shabby either.2. WANDERLUST Interviews with Jennifer Aniston, Paul Rudd and Morewanderlust-sliceI could go on and on about the reasons why I'm going to see Wanderlust: I like David Wain's past work, I find Paul Rudd likable in most roles (yes, even in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers), so on and so forth. But let's not kid ourselves, the pic is predominantly set within a nudist colony and stars both Jennifer Aniston and Malin Akerman. Case closed. Sign me up. Regardless of whether or not your motivations for being interested in Wanderlust are as cheap as my own, I recommend checking out Christina's interviews with Aniston and Rudd, Akerman and Justin Theroux, and director/co-writer David Wain. In case you missed it, click here to check out Matt's enthusiastic review of the pic too.3. Solid Fan-Made Trailers for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and JOHN CARTERdark-knight-rises-john-carter-poster-sliceIn the "prosumer" technological age we live in, amateur multimedia artifacts are aplenty. While I'm all for freedom of expression and the instant visibility that the YouTube's of the world have made possible, I have to say that I much prefer seeing quality work like these fan-made trailers for The Dark Knight Rises and John Carter over your cat Cuddles' bout with tape on her paws.4. First Clip from THE AMAZING SPIDER-MANamazing-spider-man-sliceOkay, okay, so this first clip from The Amazing Spider-Man is like 45 seconds of dialogue between Peter Parker and a doorman. But, at the same time, it's 45 seconds of dialogue between Peter Parker and a doorman that we haven't seen before! Moreover, it gives some context to Parker's "your doorman's intimidating" line from the pic's latest trailer.5. SPARTACUS Star Jai Courtney Lands DIE HARD 5 Role as John McClane's Sondie-hard-5-jai-courtney-bruce-willis-slice-2Casting news isn't something that typically cracks the "Top 5". Then again, there are few movies as polarizing to franchise fans as Die Hard's fifth installment, A Good Day to Die Hard. You have those who feel that continued sequels only serve to continually bastardize an original they adore and, on the other hand, those who look forward to getting more Bruce Willis as John McClane any way they can. Regardless of your own feelings, A Good Day to Die Hard is coming and Spartacus: Blood and Sand's Jai Courtney will be carrying on the McClane name as John's son, Jack.
