Apologies for the lack of a Top 5 last weekend. I was so busy prepping to get married, and eventually getting married, that I had to cash in a "sick day" on the best weekend job a person could ask for. The good news is that I have no intention on making this a routine (either the "sick day" or the getting married) so we should be good to go on the regular Top 5 installments for the foreseeable future. The bad news is that I doubt the substantial pile of wedding cards filled with cash/gift cards will catch on as a routine either. You win some you lose some, I guess. In this week's return edition you can find a recap of our Total Recall set visit coverage, a new trailer for Breaking Bad Season 5 alongside a fan-made recap of Seasons 1-4, continuing coverage of Prometheus such as Blu-ray details, a sequel recap and more, the first full trailer for Resident Evil: Retribution, and our Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter set visit. Keep reading for a brief recap and link to each.1. TOTAL RECALL Set Visit Coveragetotal-recall-poster-sliceIf you've followed the Top 5 for the past few months then you know my initial thoughts on director Len Wiseman's Total Recall remake: 1) I'm confident it will be fine. 2) I'm also confident that I'll probably prefer Paul Verhoeven's original. Nevertheless, I'll be more than happy to eat my words if necessary and I absolutely encourage those interested in the update to check out Steve's recap of his visit to the Toronto set (including a nifty video blog recap) and set interviews with Colin Farrell and Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, the aforementioned Wiseman and producer Toby Jaffe, and production designer Patrick Tatopoulos.2. New Trailer for BREAKING BAD Season 5 & Fan-Made Recap of Seasons 1-4breaking-bad-season-5-part-1-poster-sliceIt's been my plan for some time to wait out Breaking Bad's five season run and then marathon the hell out of the series on Blu-ray as soon as it's available. While that plan has become increasingly harder with time, I'm sticking by my guns in spite of all peer pressure that is continually heaved my way...for now. So, while I can't offer you any personal endorsement of the following materials, I can tell you that I've heard good things about this new Season 5 trailer and Seasons 1-4 fan-made recap. 3. Continuing PROMETHEUS Coverage: Sequel Recap, Blu-ray Details and Moreprometheus-movie-image-michael-fassbender-sliceSimilar to how I'm still revisiting elements of Prometheus in my mind a week after my initial viewing, Ridley Scott's latest is still finding ways to make its way into our daily coverage a week after its release. If it's not our own Adam doing a fine job of gathering tidbits of clues regarding a potential sequel, then it's Scott discussing with Steve how the film's Blu-ray will likely include 20-30 minutes of deleted scenes, and if it's not either of those then it's this behind-the-scenes image giving us a glimpse of an alien unseen in the pic, this book review for the "making-of" text, and/or this continued viral campaign.4. First Full Trailer for RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTIONI gotta be honest, I had to do a quick double-take during the first 25 seconds of this first full-length trailer for Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil: Retribution to make sure I was in the right place. If the whole "over-the-top actioner that you're never quite sure whether to laugh at or with" bit doesn't work out for Anderson then I think a take on the "on-the-nose romantic comedy that is sugary sweet enough to cause cavities" may be well within his reach.5. ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER Set Visit Coverageabraham-lincoln-vampire-hunter-movie-image-slice-01With its June 22nd release imminently approaching, we were given the all clear this week to run Steve's coverage from the New Orleans set of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Does the movie look/feel outrageous? Sure. Chances are, though, if you're looking forward to this pic it's not because you're in need of a hard-hitting, fact-driven biography of the U.S.A.'s 16th President. So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and give US historians everywhere a big middle finger by checking out our set visit recap and our set interviews with director Timur Bekmambetov and producer Jim Lemley, Benjamin Walker, and Dominic Cooper.
