Huzzah! A new TV spot for Toy Story 4 has been released, giving us a glimpse into the return of this beloved (and occasionally traumatizing) movie franchise. The new installment will take place in Bonnie's room (Bonnie is who Andy gave his toys away to at the conclusion of Toy Story 3), including the introduction of a new character, Forky, who is in an existential crisis and voiced by Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Veep).

As we reported when the first teaser was released, "this sequel has actually been a long time coming. The film was officially confirmed in 2014 with then studio head John Lasseter set to direct from a screenplay by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, based on an original idea from Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo). However, the development process was long and fraught, with Jones and McCormack eventually leaving the project over philosophical differences, Lasseter vacating the director’s chair, and the story presumably being reconceived. But all’s well that ends well, and this final iteration finds Inside Out co-writer Josh Cooley making his feature directorial debut from a screenplay by Stephany Folsom (Star Wars Resistance), with Jonas Rivera (Inside OutUp) producing."

This is a cute little ad, although it doesn't really delve into the plot of the movie, which isn't surprising since it's a 30-second spot and the film doesn't arrive until June, but it's still cute as Buzz Lightyear faces off against a couple of carnival prizes, Ducky and Bunny, voiced by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele. However, let's be honest: Toy Story sells itself at this point.

The film also features the voices of Tom HanksTim AllenJoan CusackDon RicklesEstelle HarrisWallace ShawnJohn RatzenbergerJeff Pidgeon, and Blake ClarkToy Story 4 hits theaters on June 21, 2019.

Here’s the full new synopsis for Toy Story 4:

Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voice of Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.
