Transformers: Age of Extinction will probably receive Oscar nominations.  All three of the previous movies were nominated for Best Sound Mixing, and Transformers and Transformers: Dark of the Moon were also nominated for Best Visual Effects and Best Sound Editing.  But when it comes to awards season, you don't just push for the things you know you can get.  "For Your Consideration" ads are posturing inside of posturing, which is what happens when an industry holds an awards ceremony to honor itself.

So when Paramount releases an FYC ad for Transformers: Age of Extinction asking for "consideration in all categories including BEST PICTURE OF THE YEAR [emphasis theirs]", no sane person at that studio thinks they're going to win that award.  They're doing it to keep up appearances and show that they believe their product has integrity, and while it won't seriously be considered for the big award, it's serious enough to be worthy of other categories.  Even  Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Tom DeSanto, Don Murphy, and Ian Bryce, the producers who are specifically nominated for the film, don't think they're going to get a Best Picture nomination for a Transformers movie.  Instead, they'll just have to be content with a movie that made over a $1 billion worldwide.  Hit the jump to check out the Transformers: Age of Extinction awards ad.
