We recently brought you an early look at Machinima and Hasbro's new digital-first animated series, Transformers: Combiner Wars, along with the promise that a new preview series would be soon in coming. That time is now since the first episode of the "Prelude to Transformers: Combiner Wars" is now available. Centering on Optimus Prime and revealing the state of Cybertron, this is the first of four episodes told from different point of view with the aim of bringing viewers up to speed.

It's worth mentioning that this preview episode is not indicative of the animation or style of the Transformers: Combiner Wars series, but plays more like a motion comic. That makes the experience of watching Optimus Prime square off against Megatron one last time all the more enjoyable when you know that the new series will be animated in a more traditional, fluid manner. The full, eight-episode, 3D-animated series will be debuting on go90 in the U.S. on August 2nd; more info to come for international viewers.
