The first trailer for the dramatic thriller Trespass Against Us has been released online. Doctor Who and Skins filmmaker Adam Smith makes his narrative feature directorial debut with the film, which stars Brendan Gleeson and Michael Fassbender as a father and son living as outlaws in the British countryside. Gleeson’s character, a career criminal, has groomed his son to follow in his footsteps, but Fassbender’s character wonders if there’s another path for him and his family. The film looks alright, and it’s nice to hear Fassbender and Gleeson using their native Irish accents, but Collider’s own Matt Goldberg caught the film at TIFF last week and came away underwhelmed. Matt noted in his review that the picture treads well-worn territory without bringing anything new to the table.

You can judge for yourself soon enough, as the film is part of A24’s partnership with DirecTV. It’ll be available exclusively on DirecTV starting November 24th, then hits theaters sometime in early 2017.

TRESPASS AGAINST US is set across three generations of the Cutler family who live as outlaws in their own anarchic corner of Britain's richest countryside. Chad Cutler (Michael Fassbender) is heir apparent to his bruising criminal father, Colby (Brendan Gleeson) and has been groomed to spend his life hunting, thieving and tormenting the police. But with his own son, Tyson (Georgie Smith) coming of age, Chad soon finds himself locked in a battle with his father for the future of his young family.
