Exclusive ‘Triple 9’ Poster: Casey Affleck Never Lets His Guard Down

     January 28, 2016

Today, we’re happy to debut an exclusive character poster for director John Hillcoat’s (The RoadLawless) intense action thriller, Triple 9featuring Casey Affleck. Scripted by Matt Cook, the film follows the interconected web of thieves and corrupt officers who plan to murder a cop in order to draw attention away from the heist they’ll be pulling on the other side of town.

Hillcoat has put together an absolutely stacked all-star cast led by Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, and Kate Winslet. Affleck stars as the presumable hero of the piece, a good cop caught in the crosshairs of corruption and greed. Indeed, 2016 could finally be the breakout year he’s long-deserved. In addition to leading Triple 9, he also stars in The Finest Hours, which arrives in theaters this week, and has been earning rave Sundance reviews (including one from our own Adam Chitwood) for his performance in the festival hit Manchester by the Sea.

Check our exclusive Triple 9 poster below. The film also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Aaron Paul, Gal Gadot, Teresa Palmer, Chiwitel Ejiofor, and Norman Reedus. Triple 9 opens in theaters on February 26th.

In case you missed it, check out the first, red-band Triple 9 trailer, which didn’t offer much in the way of plot, but hoo boy did it ramp up the tension. Hillcoat is taking no prisoners with his brutal and bleak approach to real-world violence. The most recent trailer offers a much cleaner look at the narrative, but might give away more than you’d like about the story, and honestly all you need to get excited about the film is in that doozy of a red-band.

Here’s the Triple 9 synopsis.

A crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist. The only way to pull it off is to manufacture a 999, police code for “officer down”. Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck, action-packed finale filled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.
