The history of movies that have starred Kevin James is not a pretty one. It's bad enough to recall the innumerable horrors that can be found sprinkled throughout Paul Blart: Mall Cop or Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, before remembering such unforgivable nonsense as Here Comes the Boom and The Zookeeper.

Mind you, those are just recent movies that he's headlined rather than just co-starred in. There are very few words to describe how ignorant and unfunny something like I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, which starred James alongside Adam Sandler, is in the harsh light of day. And my stomach begins the churn at the very thought of what the pair did in last year's insufferable Pixels. As such, I guess I should be happy that his next movie, True Memoirs of an International Assassin, is focused primarily on him, with only Andy Garcia adding any sort of star power to the proceedings.

The first trailer for James' latest can be found below and though the comedian doesn't fall down or point out how fat he is in these brief moments, this looks largely like any other movie that James and Sandler have put out that adds action with laughs. In fact, this one looks even worse than the usual pablum, as James is being set-up as a secret awesome bad-ass rather than just a lucky, good-humored fool. The action doesn't look particularly thrilling either. Maybe my opinion will change by the time True Memoirs of an International Assassin drops on Netflix on November 11th, but I really, really doubt that.

Here's the official synopsis for True Memoirs of an International Assassin:

The action comedy stars Kevin James as Sam Larson, a mild-mannered would-be author who gets mistaken for a killer-for-hire when his fictional novel about an international assassin is published as a true story. When the book is a huge success, he is suddenly kidnapped, taken out of the country, and forced into an assassination plot. On Netflix November 11.
