Here's a trio of TV casting additions coming your way! First up, CBS announced today via press release that Michael J. Fox will guest star on the forthcoming season of The Good Wife where he'll actually be facing off against series star Julianna Margulies. He'll play Simon Canning, a shrewd and cynical litigator whom Alicia (Margulies) faces in a massive class action.  Canning is willing to use anything in court, including symptoms of his neurological condition, to create sympathy for his otherwise unsympathetic client: a giant pharmaceutical company.

Despite his debilitating Parkinson's disease keeping him from taking on more roles, Fox has previously been able to take on multi-episode arcs on shows like Scrubs, Boston Legal and Rescue Me (though he'll only appear on one episode of The Good Wife). Fox has always been a favorite of mine from Back to the Future to Spin City and it's a shame we don't get to see him more often. Hit the jump for new casting for the final season of Smallville and NBC's forthcoming remake of The Rockford Files.

Next, EW has the scoop on an interesting casting development for the tenth and final season of Smallville. Apparently John Glover will be returning to the series reprising his role as Lex Luthor's deceptive father Lionel Luthor. Funnily enough, (SPOILER ALERT) Lionel has been dead since season seven after Lex pushed him out of a window. Though Lionel appeared in season eight, it was through archival footage. This time around Glover is signed on for at least two episodes which are expected to air in September. Obviously with the final season of a series you have to pull out all the stops, but it'll be interesting to see how they bring back Lionel Luthor from the grave.

Finally, back in May NBC executives briefly commented on the lack of a series pick-up for the anticipated remake of The Rockford Files saying that the pilot just wasn't up to snuff. Well in an attempt to fix the series reboot and maybe give it some new life, the original lead, Dermot Mulroney (Flash of Genius, Zodiac) has been axed and the hunt is on for a replacement. EW reports that some chatter has sprouted around Lost star Josh Holloway to fill the detective shoes once filled by James Garner. Apparently there aren't any serious talks going on and producer David Shore says although he's a "viable choice" that "it's too premature."

Well, it's certainly one of the best prospects and maybe desperate Lost fans can look at this as a spin-off from Sawyer's career as a detective in the presumed purgatory revealed in the series finale. Meanwhile, NBC is certainly still interested in the series reboot and director Peter Berg is still on board to produce (and maybe even direct the new pilot). I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
