Collider TV Ratings Key

No half stars, no half measures!

★★★★★ Excellent — Awards material

★★★★ Very good — Damn fine television

★★★ Good — Proceed with cautious optimism

★★ Fair — Only for the dedicated

★  Poor — A waste of time; clear your DV-R space

The Specifics:

  • TV show episodes are rated against other episodes from that same show, and ultimately from within that same season. The ratings generally take into account character development, strength of plot, and overall entertainment value.
  • It’s not an exact science, so ratings may need to adjust up or down as the episodes and seasons wear on.  Also, the better the show (and the longer it has been running), the higher the bar, and likely, the lower overall weekly rating.
  • New series and pilots are rated on season potential, and strength of survival.
