December was the month of epic soundtrack news, with Oscar winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross reuniting for David Fincherâs The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and the more recent announcement of The Hunger Games soundtrack, produced by T Bone Burnett and featuring Taylor Swift. While the musical lineup for the fourth installment in the Underworld series is unlikely to garner an Academy Award, the goth-centric soundtrack is sure to be a commercial success, if the trend from the previous movies continues. The Lakeshore Records album will feature 17 tracks of rock/metal songs that fit in lock-step with the dark energy of Underworld: Awakening. Previous contributors that are making a repeat appearance include Lacuna Coil, Black Light Burns and Linkin Park, with Chester Bennington having contributed a solo track on the first album. The soundtrack will be available in stores on January 17th, three days before Underworld: Awakening hits screens. Iâll put this lineup up against any soundtrack out there today. Sure, Taylor Swift may walk away with a ton of awards, but at the end of the day, is she hardcore enough to sing a song titled, âIt Rapes All In Its Path?â I didnât think so. Check out the trailer for Underworld: Awakening here and read up on the synopsis below:
âThe vampire warrioress Selene, escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.â
