A fun and intriguing point-and-click adventure game has just been released for the Nintendo Switch and along with it comes a new launch trailer that showcases some of the 60 atmospheric hand-drawn locations which the players will be navigating in order to solve a mystery which is impacting the whole world.

Developed by the German videogame developer Backwoods Entertainment and published by ASHGAMES, Unforeseen Incidents was originally released for PC on May 24, 2018. With very positive reviews, the game centers around the character of handyman Harper Pendrell who, one day, stumbles upon the bleeding body of a sick woman. In the trailer, we can see Harper calling the emergency services, and he states his belief that the woman has come down with a case of Yellowtown fever, a strange disease that is spreading at a worrying rate. This is only the beginning of the protagonist’s journey to solve a massive evil conspiracy affecting the lives of many.

In 2018, Unforeseen Incidents was nominated for German Developer Award for the categories of Best Graphics, Best Game Design, and Best Story. Among the members of the Blackwoods Entertainment team behind the game’s production, Marcus Bäumer came up with the story and handled programming, Tristan Berger composed the music and sound, and Matthias Nikutta was responsible for the artwork.

This game with an interactive graphic novel feel to it, not only offers a stimulating mystery, but it also has its fair share of humor, which we can especially note towards the end of the trailer. The trailer ends with Harper commenting on a box of cupcakes he found sitting “in the trunk of a stranger’s car”, something so mundane and at odds with the larger darker narrative at the center of the plot. On top of the elaborate soundtrack, there is plenty of German and English voice acting to carry the story along.

Unforeseen Incidents has been available on Steam since its launching in 2018. You can purchase the game for PC via the platform and if you are quick in doing so, you may be in time to enjoy a special 40% off until February 3. If you are looking to buy the game for the Nintendo Switch instead, as of January 27, you can acquire it for $19.99. Check out the trailer below:
