“Imagine a key that unlocks that which is most hidden,” says Pierce Brosnan in the Urge trailer. The former 007 star transformed himself into a Hunter S. Thompson-esque drug peddler/club owner in the new film about the horrific extremes of over-indulging. This is a world Justin Chatwin knows all too well through his time on the Showtime series Shameless, but here he’s playing someone who is actually trying to stop the shenanigans.

The feature film directorial debut of Aaron Kaufman (Machete Kills producer), Urge sees four friends from New York going on vacation for a time they’ll never forget on a tropical island destination. What they find is a mysterious drug called Urge, which makes users incapable of controlling their — you guessed it — urges. All the group knows is that it’s unlike anything they’ve ever tried in their entire lives and that they can only take it once. Of course, the story would be over if everyone took it in moderation, so they take it again and again and again, while one friend, Jason (Chatwin), stays sober. What ensues what Fifty Shades of Grey would probably be without a safe word.

Urge also features Danny Masterson (That ‘70s Show), Ashley Greene (The Twilight Saga), and Alexis Knapp (Pitch Perfect 2). Kaufman worked on the screenplay with Jason Zumwalt (Flock of Dudes) and Jerry Stahl (Permanent Midnight). This marks another ensemble cast credit for Brosnan, who previously appeared in A Long Way Down, The World’s End, in addition to 007-esque The November Man and Survivor. Meanwhile, Masterson is making a comeback of sorts as he costars with his ‘70s Show buddy Ashton Kutcher on the Netflix series The Ranch, which recently got the go-ahead for a second season.

Urge will hit theaters and on-demand on June 3. See the poster below, which also debuted on Yahoo Movies.
