The CW's drama Walker is returning sooner than expected. Announced today, Season 2's midseason return date will now debut Thursday, January 13, 2022, which is two weeks earlier than the previously announced date.
Walker stars Jared Padalecki (Supernatural) in the titular role as Cordell Walker, a Texas Ranger who has recently returned from a lengthy undercover mission. A recent widower, Walker struggles to connect with his daughter and find his role in family life on the ranch. The show is a reimagining of the popular western drama Walker, Texas Ranger which starred Chuck Norris in the role of Cordell Walker. The original series ran from 1993 to 2001.
The first season premiered in January of this year and was quickly renewed for a second season, which debuted last October. The series begins its midseason break following its sixth episode on December 9. The show was initially reported as returning January 27, 2022, alongside The Vampire Diaries spinoff drama Legacies, before today’s announcement.
Alongside Padalecki, Walker features Lindsey Morgan, Molly Hagan, Keegan Allen, Coby Bell, Mitch Pileggi, Violet Brinson, Kale Culley, and Jeff Pierre as various members, coworkers, and friends of the Walker family. Season 2 introduces new rivals for Walker played by Paula Marshall and Dave Annable, and new District Attorney Denies Davidson played by Amara Zaragoza.
Padalecki serves as an executive producer for the series in collaboration with Anna Fricke, Dan Lin, Lindsey Liberatore, and Jessica Yu. Padalecki, Fricke, and Laura Terry are also set to be executive producers of a Walker prequel series titled Walker: Independence. The spin-off will focus on an ancestor of Cordell Walker set in the 1800s.
