If you’re looking for your next big fantasy epic, Duncan Jones’ Warcraft might be it. The keyword here is “might.” So far the trailers have been exceptionally CG-heavy, sometimes blindingly so, but it’s too soon to judge the film's overall quality. However, there will be some pretty incredible practical medieval sets, as previewed in behind-the-scenes images released by Jones.

Writing on Twitter, the director emphasized that these new photos are not from any reshoots but are ones of the original production he was asked to keep under wraps until now. The images reveal “some of the set of the Stormwind city exteriors,” including the throne room and a street view. Elsewhere, we see Jones and company analyzing VFX sequences.

I remember seeing the trailer for this film before Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the footage in 3D was a strain on my eyes. But, these photos have quelled some of my fears that arose when seeing Travis Fimmel converse with these orcs.

Warcraft sees Fimmel as Anduin Lothar, commander of the Azeroth military; Ben Foster as Medivh, the reclusive Guardian of Tirisfal; Dominic Cooper as King Llane Wyrnn of the Stormwind kingdom; Ruth Negga as Llane’s queen, Lady Taria Wyrnn; Paula Patton as the half-orc Garona; Toby Kebbell as Durotan, chieftan of the exiled Frostwolf orc clan; and Rob Kazinsky as Orgrim Doomhammer, righthand man to Blackhand “The Destroyer,” played by Clancy Brown. In this fantastical world that brings the beloved Warcraft game to life, the orcs’ world is dying, putting them on the brink of war with the humans as they try to recolonize.

Warcraft hits theaters on June 10.

The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home. So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.
