There have already been two great movies released thus far in 2016 - Corneliu Porumboiu's sly The Treasure and Radu Jude's dark comedy Aferim!, both from Romania. The year doesn't really get going, however, until the big American movies start rolling in, and among the more epic-in-scope films that will see release this year, Duncan Jones' Warcraft is right up there with Batman vs. Superman and Captain America: Civil War. Sure, its the action-adventure adaptation of one of the biggest video game franchises on this here planet, but it's also, and more importantly, the third film by Jones, a very talented director and, of course, the son of the late, great David Bowie.
Following Moon and Source Code, two of the more fascinating science fiction films of the last decade or so, the filmmaker's take on Warcraft could prove to be the next Lord of the Rings, if handled right, and the latest trailer for the film makes a case for the grand scale and dramatic heft of the adaptation. We'll see if all the anticipation pays off on June 10th, when the film is released by Universal and Legendary Pictures. You can check the new trailer for the film right below:

Legendary’s WARCRAFT is a 3D epic adventure of world-colliding conflict based upon Blizzard Entertainment’s globally-renowned universe. Directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) and written by Charles Leavitt and Duncan Jones, the film is a Legendary Pictures, Blizzard Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment production. The producers are Charles Roven, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Alex Gartner and Stuart Fenegan. Jillian Share, Brent O’Connor, Michael Morhaime and Paul Sams serve as executive producers. Rob Pardo, Chris Metzen, Nick Carpenter and Rebecca Steel Roven co-produce. WARCRAFT will be released by Universal Pictures.
Fighting for The Alliance, Warcraft features Dominic Cooper as King Llane Wrynn, Travis Fimmel as Anduin Lothar, Ben Foster as Medivh, Ben Schnetzer as Khadgar, and Ruth Negga as Lady Taria, and on the side of The Horde is also Clancy Brown as Blackhand, Toby Kebbel as Durotan, and Daniel Wu as Gul’Dan, with Paula Patton’s Garona caught in the middle.
