Warner Bros. just released seven clips from Max Joseph's feature directorial debut We Are Your Friends. Zac Efron leads as Cole, an aspiring DJ who's mentored by an old pro named James (Wes Bentley). Cole is determined to hit it big in the electronic music industry, but when he meets and falls for James' girlfriend, Sophie (Emily Ratajkowski), he's forced to reassess his priorities.

Electronic music is pure gold when it comes to cutting trailers so I've enjoyed the energy of the promos released thus far quite a bit, but these clips are just totally lifeless. Hopefully it's only because we're watching them completely out of context but as standalone videos, these are some pretty dull moments. You can check out all seven We Are Your Friends clips for yourself below. The film is due in theaters on August 28th and also stars Jonny Weston, Shiloh Fernandez and Jon Bernthal.

“We Are Your Friends” is about what it takes to find your voice. Set in the world of electronic music and Hollywood nightlife, an aspiring 23-year-old DJ named Cole (Efron) spends his days scheming with his childhood friends and his nights working on the one track that will set the world on fire. All of this changes when he meets a charismatic but damaged older DJ named James (Bentley), who takes him under his wing. Things get complicated, however, when Cole starts falling for James’ much younger girlfriend, Sophie (Ratajkowski). With Cole’s forbidden relationship intensifying and his friendships unraveling, he must choose between love, loyalty, and the future he is destined for.
