Today's depressing announcement that Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger would be getting the 3D conversion treatment got me thinking again about how studios need to be honest with audience about the difference between a movie shot in/rendered natively into 3D and one that is converted in post-production.  Instead a new website called "Is it Real or Fake 3D?" is picking up the slack by listing the films that fall into either category.

I will say that the list could use a little more context and/or annotation.  For example, Sucker Punch is listed as being a 3D post-convert, but we recently learned that director Zack Snyder and producer Debbie Snyder are leaning towards keeping the film 2D only.  But overall, this is an incredibly useful site and filmgoers should keep it in their bookmarks so they know the score before shelling out the cash for shoddy 3D post-converts that are a complete rip-off.
